Elena, a foster kid who fell through the cracks long ago, is contacted by a giant corporation by the name of Aether Corp with a job opportunity that could change her life for the better. Review: The Hatching
Hatching is a novel that unapologetically tells you what it is from the get go. This is a novel about carnivorous spiders. The novel isn't about the coming together of humanity, the over coming of individuals in the face of sure death or the small acts of kindness bestowed by strangers in a time of crises..it's about an ancient egg sac that is discovered beneath the Inca lines only weeks before it hatches, unleashing hungry eight-legged anthropoids on the the modern world. Not going to lie, I loved this novel. Its deliciously creepy crawly. The Hatching is written ... Continue Reading...
Review: Tell The Wind and Fire
Tell the Wind and Fire is based on Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities and comes with a fantasy twist. New York City is divided between the Light City and the Dark City – a distinction that creates a world of inequality based on birth and magical abilities. Light is good, Dark is bad, or is it? Our story follows Lucie, a girl born in the Dark city who earns her way into the Light city. Her experiences border on shock that the Light city is so comfortable while those in the Dark City are condemned to live in poverty and darkness. Meanwhile, the Dark City uses Lucie’s rise ... Review: Dan vs. Nature
Dan vs Nature is a hilarious novel with plenty of raunchy humour that kept me laughing out loud. It's rare to find a novel that actually catches me off guard and makes me laugh in delight, but Dan vs Nature, as the cover promises, is an "outrageously funny and wickedly raunchy romp in the woods". In terms of novels, Dan vs Nature is probably one of the more "out there" Novels that deviates from my traditional female lead characters, romance and intrigue - but it deviates in a good way. What starts out as a story about a boy trying to thwart his mother's suitor with a ... Continue Reading...
Review: The Immortals
The first thing that really captured my interest with The Immortals was the depth of the research committed to get all the details right in reference to the Greek gods, their world and their cults. Clearly, Brodsky wanted a novel based on mythological fact rather than pure fiction. When I realized that Theo would be an academic and Selene would be a Greek goddess, I became concerned that the novel would become incredibly outlandish or unrealistic, but the narrative never veered from it's Greek mythos roots and the characters never broke away from their core ...
