Yellowstone National Park is the home of beautiful landscapes, hot springs, idyllic camp grounds and one of the world’s “super volcanoes”. Scientists estimate it has been approximately 640,000 years since the last time the super volcano's caldera erupted. Recently, the ground beneath Yellowstone has been steadily heating up and rising - classic signs of an impending eruption. When researchers tasked with observing and recording changes in the Yellowstone volcano’s rate of elevation and rising underground temperature discover that the volcano appears to have magma ... Review: Addicted to the Duke
Addicted to the Duke was one of those romance novels that made me cry and simultaneously root for the main characters. Alex, completely destroyed from his time in captivity to Turkish pirate where he cultivated a raging opium addiction, is in love with Lady Hestia. However, haunted by his past, he pushes her away believing he is unworthy of her affections. Lady Hestia is devoted to the man who rescued her from the same Turkish pirates a few years after Alex escaped captivity. Unfortunately, although Hestia is besotted with her savior for years after being rescued, ... Continue Reading...
Review: Future Threat
Briggs has done it again in the exciting second installment of the Future Shock series! Although not quite as good as Future Shock, Future Threat is a thrilling ride with plenty of twists and intriguing mystery to keep a reader guessing. Also, Briggs seems to have a talent for writing novels that are enthralling – you can read the entire novel without realizing you’ve been reading for hours! We return to the life of Elena a few months following the events covered in Future Shock. Aether Corp has promised to leave the ill-fated team of misfit teenagers alone and ... Continue Reading...
Review: Kill Devil
Kill Devil was not what I expected, and yet was entirely what I expected. This novel is movie-esque with exciting action scenes, plenty of spy craft scenes, many conspiracy theories and an evil villain you can't help hating even though you understand his motivations. I especially loved that Jed was a down to earth guy, even if he is a highly trained ex-sniper who also happens to have been a super spy for a shady black-ops government organization. That's pretty bad-ass. Dellosso's writing is top notch and I applaud his ability to create an exciting yet coherent plot. ... Continue Reading...
Review: The Ship Beyond Time
Well, The Ship Beyond Time was just as good, if not better than its predecessor The Girl From Everywhere. The Girl From Everywhere sometimes dragged with intense descriptions of Hawaii's cultural and historical background and many readers found this detracted from the enjoyability of The Girl From Everywhere. In The Ship Beyond Time, Heilig seems to improved her writing to make it more entertaining for the masses while continuing to educate readers on mythological locations of cultural significance. Although this shift from heavily educating narrative to a more ... Continue Reading...
