Review: Wolves
If you are a lover of dark, tormented novels and are not at all squeamish when it comes to rape, death and gore then Wolves is most definitely for you! Review: Machinations
Every once in a while I come across a novel that clearly isn’t written for me. This doesn’t mean the novel isn’t a wonderful book on its own or isn’t worth someone else’s reading efforts; merely that for myself something didn’t “click”. I wasn’t satisfied on a base level with this book and I’m not certain if it was the main character, something about the plot, or the writing style – but this one just didn’t cast the same spell over me as most post-apocalyptic novels tend to and I couldn’t really put my finger on why. Review: A Time of Torment
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I received an invite via NetGalley to read A Time of Torment. The synopsis is rather vague and doesn't really do this novel justice. I have never read a novel from the Charlie Parker series so I wasn't sure what this novel was really about. Paranormal creatures? Vigilante Private Investigator? Murder Mystery? A Time of Torment is properly dark, with some really captivating cultural lore behind the mystery of the "entity" that resides in the Cut. The Cut is a ... Continue Reading...
Review: The Summit

I was a bit nervous when I realized what The Summit was actually about - Nazis. Fortunately, Farthing's novel was an amazing mix of Nazi historical fiction and mountaineering fiction to make this novel pretty fantastic. The fact that Farthing also has extensive real life experience in mountain climbing as well as having been blessed with his own experiences on Everest only added an additional ... Continue Reading...
