Review: The Drifter

April 10, 2017 · Leave a Comment

The Drifter was a dark and thought provoking novel that took me a very, very long time to get through. The unrelated details throughout this novel added realism to this novel in a way that made this book perhaps a little too real for me and resulted in many "breaks". The details evoked personal feelings that were perfectly related to the experiences of the three young friends Caroline, Betsy and Ginny who, although completely unalike, were best friends until the shining future of all three women are changed by one horrific night. I felt connected to the characters by ... Continue Reading...

Review: Night Watch

February 6, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Night Watch is book four of the Kendra Michaels series, although you really do not have to read the first four books to understand the history and plot behind this latest release. Kendra, blind for the first twenty years of her life before a scientific experiment made her see again, consults for the FBI utilizing her senses honed by the years she was blind. In this installment, the doctor who gave her sight again has been kidnapped and Kendra uses her FBI contacts to open an investigation into her benefactor’s disappearance. Not all is as it seems with Dr Charles ... Continue Reading...

Review: Wolves

September 11, 2016 · Leave a Comment

If you are a lover of dark, tormented novels and are not at all squeamish when it comes to rape, death and gore then Wolves is most definitely for you! Huxley, a man who once was a history teacher, husband and father has lost everything that once created his sense of self. When an apocalyptic event alluded to as the ”skyfire” destroyed civilization, Huxley and his young family fled the cities in search of a safe haven and found it for a time in a farming community. Huxley’s descent into darkness occurs when slavers come to the farming community causing pain, death ... Continue Reading...

Review: A Time of Torment

August 13, 2016 · Leave a Comment

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I received an invite via NetGalley to read A Time of Torment. The synopsis is rather vague and doesn't really do this novel justice. I have never read a novel from the Charlie Parker series so I wasn't sure what this novel was really about. Paranormal creatures? Vigilante Private Investigator? Murder Mystery? It turns out A Time of Torment is actually a little bit of all three. A Time of Torment is properly dark, with some really captivating cultural lore behind the mystery of the "entity" that resides in the Cut. The Cut is a ... Continue Reading...

Review: With Malice

May 29, 2016 · Leave a Comment

With Malice was one of those books that catches your interest from the first page and takes you for a ride through a story about coming of age, self-identity and the tricky nature of memory. The narrative is written in the voice of Jill, a girl who cannot remember anything from the six weeks before her car accident that killed her best friend. We follow Jill as she remembers bits and pieces of that fateful summer abroad and follows a bread trail of legal evidence that paints Jill as her best friend’s killer.  Did Jill kill Simone, or did her best friend try to kill ...
