Review: Night Watch

February 6, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Night Watch is book four of the Kendra Michaels series, although you really do not have to read the first four books to understand the history and plot behind this latest release. Kendra, blind for the first twenty years of her life before a scientific experiment made her see again, consults for the FBI utilizing her senses honed by the years she was blind. In this installment, the doctor who gave her sight again has been kidnapped and Kendra uses her FBI contacts to open an investigation into her benefactor’s disappearance. Not all is as it seems with Dr Charles ... Continue Reading...

Review: Resurrection Science: Conservation, De-extinction and the Precarious Future of Wild Things

October 31, 2015 · Leave a Comment

M.R O'Connor attempts to tackle the moral and social implications regarding de-extinction efforts. Considering the fact that mammoth DNA has been fully sequenced, it stands to reason the sequencing of other animal DNA is only a breath away. O'Connor delves in the questions: which animals are worth saving? What are the implications on the environment and human society? Will establishing the science of de-extinction devalue the meaning of "extinct species"? The novel looks at extremely troubled Spray Toads whose natural habitat has been destroyed by human efforts. ... Continue Reading...

Review: Smoke on The Water

Smoke on the Water is the second installment of the Sisters of the Craft series. After many months of build up around the Taggart sisters and the Venatores Mali we finally got to see how the entire story ends. I am actually sad to see this series end. The lack of witchery the Sisters of the Craft series centered around was a breath of fresh air. “I feel as if I know you,” he said. “Better than I can know you. Like I’ve always known you. Like we were … destined.” “We were.” He shook his head, and my chest began to ache. He was going to deny this, deny us, and then ... Continue Reading...

Heat of the Moment is the second installment of the Sisters of the Craft series. Owen, a recently gravely injured soldier from Afghanistan, returns home to face his past and the increasing likelihood he may never be healthy enough for active duty. He struggles with returning to a town where he was little more than a trouble maker. It doesn't help he will see the girl he abandoned once he went away for training. Becca never expected to see Owen again. She tries to forget what happened between them and moved on with her life as best she can. A chance meeting brings ... Continue Reading...

Review: In The Air Tonight

June 1, 2015 · Leave a Comment

I don't even know where to start. I have a long history as a teenager with an interest in occult literature, folklore and YA Novels. I at one time adored witch books because it was a world where magic was real and dreary, mundane world could melt away to give birth to one where anything was possible. In The Air Tonight surprisingly transported me to a world where magic existed on a smaller, more realistic scale. The main characters were people I could identify with regardless the fact that we live in completely different worlds. I work in a boring office or a fast food ... Continue Reading...
