Thursday Bookish Updates is a weekly post here at Silk&Serif devoted to anything book related. The main goal of this posting is to keep readers up to date on what's going on in the community and get a taste of future posts. I will provide information on some community events I am participating in and blurbs on newly acquired titles to be reviewed at a later date. I might even slip in a few surprises here and there. I was inspired by a post I read by Kelsye at Wise Ink Blog Ultimate Bloggers Guide to Growing Your Readership. Her list of ways to increase traffic ... Continue Reading...
Review: Cinder
Why did I put Cinder off for so long?! I remember reading the synopsis and being really unexcited but I kept hearing SUCH GOOD THINGS. I kept thinking "I'll probably like it, but I have all these other books that kind of seem more interesting so I'll read those instead." Time went on. I didn't read Cinder. Seriously, I regret that decision now because I loved Cinder to bits. It's unique, exciting and you don't see the twists coming. I read Cinder as part of The Lunar Chronicles Read Along hosted by @bookaddictsguide! The whole event is about reading the Lunar ... Continue Reading...
Review: While You Were Gone
I originally didn't realize that While You Were Gone was a novella attached to another of Moretti's works called Thought I Knew You. While You Were Gone is an emotional roller coaster ride filled with more than pure romance. Its a story about self-discovery, life choices and ... Continue Reading...

ARC August 2015 – Wrap Up
I signed up for Read, Sleep, Repeat’s 3rd Annual ARC August in hopes of getting through all my NetGalley ARCs that were piling up. I was experiencing a bit of a reading slump and needed a small push to get through my reading lists. My goal was to read four ARCs before the end of August and honestly by the middle of the month it wasn't looking like I'd make my total. What was ARC August? Its an event focused on ARCs, physical or electronic. The participant pretty much makes things up from there: a desired NetGalley ratio, a goal of X amount books to read or even ...
