The thought of Halloween invokes the image of children dressed in costumes resembling vampires, ghosts and witches. The entire holiday of Halloween stems from All Hallows Eve, a Christianized version of Samhain. Considering Halloween is my favourite holiday ever, I wanted to share the history of vampires in literature. How did these frightening creatures come to be? What was their evolution and what ideas are still being developed by today’s popular culture? 1819 - The Vampyre – John Polidori The original vampire novel that transformed folklore into literature. Review: Seize The Night
Every once in a while I feel it’s a great idea to read an anthology on your favourite genres because it opens you up to not only new authors, but also new ways of looking at a particular story type. As a child Christmas approaching meant taking on an acting role in a movie that didn't pay particularly well, developing a knack for pretending to be happy and over joyed for the gifts I received, but never really desired. Failure meant more bruises to hide and more lies to tell classmates. Thanksgiving was a ... Continue Reading...

My TBR List for the first few months of 2016 are as follows: Kali Wallace January 26th, 2016 For fans of Holly Black and Nova Ren Suma, a gripping, hauntingly atmospheric novel about murder, revenge, and a world where monsters—human and otherwise—lurk at the fringes. When seventeen-year-old Breezy Lin wakes up in a shallow grave one year after her death, she doesn’t remember who killed her or why. All she knows is that she’s somehow ... Continue Reading...
