When I first noticed The Summit on NetGalley I was pretty excited. I didn't even stop to read the full synopsis because, well, Everest, mountaineering and intrigue? Sign me up! I was a bit nervous when I realized what The Summit was actually about - Nazis. Fortunately, Farthing's novel was an amazing mix of Nazi historical fiction and mountaineering fiction to make this novel pretty fantastic. The fact that Farthing also has extensive real life experience in mountain climbing as well as having been blessed with his own experiences on Everest only added an additional ... Continue Reading...
Review: Tridents Forge
The Ark, a massive space shuttle outfitted to harbor thirty thousands souls away from a dying Earth in the hopes of finding a new home world, has arrived at a suitable planet. Review: The Hatching
Hatching is a novel that unapologetically tells you what it is from the get go. This is a novel about carnivorous spiders. The novel isn't about the coming together of humanity, the over coming of individuals in the face of sure death or the small acts of kindness bestowed by strangers in a time of crises..it's about an ancient egg sac that is discovered beneath the Inca lines only weeks before it hatches, unleashing hungry eight-legged anthropoids on the the modern world. Not going to lie, I loved this novel. Its deliciously creepy crawly. The Hatching is written ... Continue Reading...
Review: Dan vs. Nature
Dan vs Nature is a hilarious novel with plenty of raunchy humour that kept me laughing out loud. It's rare to find a novel that actually catches me off guard and makes me laugh in delight, but Dan vs Nature, as the cover promises, is an "outrageously funny and wickedly raunchy romp in the woods". In terms of novels, Dan vs Nature is probably one of the more "out there" Novels that deviates from my traditional female lead characters, romance and intrigue - but it deviates in a good way. What starts out as a story about a boy trying to thwart his mother's suitor with a ... Continue Reading...
