The Twilight Wife is a complex novel about secrets, married life and obsession. The narrative develops an initially simplistic tale of a woman who survived a diving accident and suffers from amnesia, but the tale quickly begins to unfold deep complexities that alter Kyra's understanding of who she is, what her life was like and slowly the edges of her idyllic relationship with her husband unravels. A wonderful tale of the complexities of married life and what makes us individuals; The Twilight Wife is an intense, haunting and enthralling read. In addition to ... Continue Reading...
Review: The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine
The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine is an anthology of Halloween inspired tales fit for any romance lover. Each character and couple experience their own strange experience while staying at the Rose Cottage where they realize or meet their true love. Charmed By You by Kate Angell Jack and Chole, best friends, are on their way to visit Chole's aunt in ... Continue Reading...
Review: Every Hidden Thing
Every Hidden Thing is another book with a summary that doesn’t really do the story justice. I was expecting a novel that was very different from the one I got. I really can’t complain that this novel’s summary led me astray because the actual book was so much better than expected! The novel opens with an intense fight between the fathers of main characters over the correct placement of a set of vertebra (or is it actually tail bones?) on a plesiosaurs. Thus begins the very public and disruptive competition between two very different men that spills over into their ... Continue Reading...
Release Blitz: Unknown
It's Finally Here! Unknown is the most recent release of Wendy Higgins, the creator of the Sweet Evil Series and The Great Hunt - but with a subtle difference. Instead of the usual YA novel, Higgins is forging ahead into the adult novelist world with her very first NA release. I don't know about you guys but I am psyched to read some more Higgins. Unknown is going to be an instant winner because it was written by any author who creates fantastic characters, intense romantic relationships and ridiculously exciting action scenes. Amber Tate is your typical American ... Continue Reading...
Review: Machinations
Every once in a while I come across a novel that clearly isn’t written for me. This doesn’t mean the novel isn’t a wonderful book on its own or isn’t worth someone else’s reading efforts; merely that for myself something didn’t “click”. I wasn’t satisfied on a base level with this book and I’m not certain if it was the main character, something about the plot, or the writing style – but this one just didn’t cast the same spell over me as most post-apocalyptic novels tend to and I couldn’t really put my finger on why. Rhona Long is a survivor – a survivor who, after ... Continue Reading...
