I was inspired by a post I read by Kelsye at Wise Ink Blog Ultimate Bloggers Guide to Growing Your Readership. Her list of ways to increase traffic got me thinking about how little I actually do to set schedules and really update readers on what to expect from my little slice of the inter-webs. In theory, this feature should help keep me on track and active. My long term goal is to turn this post into a weekly newsletter of sorts outlining where we are and where we are going.

While perusing my Twitter feed I spotted the 2016 Debut Author Challenge by Jana @ The Artsy Reader Girl. It looks like a great yearly Challenge all about reading and reviewing one debut novel a month, which helps me read all those amazing 2016 NA/YA debut books on my TBR list! It appears there will be monthly giveaways (INT!) but my main focus is on finding new authors and completing my first blogging challenge next year. I suggest checking it out because 2016 will be the year of amazing debut authors!

There’s also another yearly challenge being hosted by Danielle @ Love at First Page, the 2016: A Series A Month Reading Challenge. The whole idea is that individuals read an entire series each month until December 2016. This ambitious challenge pushes readers to tackle those long TBR lists of series and duologies that otherwise would go unread. Although, I feel this challenge is much too arduous for someone like me, I think it sounds like a really fun and worthwhile challenge!

by Heidi Heilig: Greenwillow Books.
Another 2016 release that I cannot wait to read and share with everyone. Sure to have plenty of action, adventure and an unique nautical flair, The Girl From Everywhere was actually one of my Most Anticipated Reads for 2016! Nix’s life began in Honolulu in 1868. Since then she has traveled to mythic Scandinavia, a land from the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, modern-day New York City, and many more places both real and imagined. As long as he has a map, Nix’s father can sail his ship, The Temptation, to any place, any time. But now he’s uncovered the one map he’s always sought—1868 Honolulu, before Nix’s mother died in childbirth. Nix’s life—her entire existence—is at stake. No one knows what will happen if her father changes the past. It could erase Nix’s future, her dreams, her adventures . . . her connection with the charming Persian thief, Kash, who’s been part of their crew for two years. If Nix helps her father reunite with the love of his life, it will cost her her own.In The Girl from Everywhere, Heidi Heilig blends fantasy, history, and a modern sensibility with witty, fast-paced dialogue, breathless adventure, and enchanting romance. |
