1. Bad Ass Mechanics
Yeah that’s right, number one on the list is Cinder because she’s awesome. She’s skilled and tough. She’s has had a hard life but doesn’t let that get in the way of doing what’s right. She’s the perfect space-criminal Cinderella.
2. It’s Unpredictable
It’s super fun to see how everything comes together at the end of each installment of the Lunar Chronicles series. At the beginning each novel you can sort of see what kinds of plot developments will take place but can’t ever predict how they will happen. Even how the broader picture develops is a surprise!
3. Sarcasm and Witty Banter
Appears more so after the addition of Captain Thorne but develops a playful and amusing aspect to the relationships blossoming between the crew members. I love sarcasm and witty banter. Wins every time.
4. Spaceships
It has spaceships. ‘Nuff said.
5. Clean, Slow, Cute Romances
Each of the LC crew finds a soul mate in each install lament of the series but the real beauty of this is that it’s not all encompassing. The focus moves away to the broader story line and you’re too distracted to dwell on the romance too much. Plus, the developing of the connections between lovers spans books, or in Cinder’s case, the entire series! No Insta-lurve!
6. Bad Guys Who Are Super Bad (Or Are They?)
Humanizing the bad guys. That’s cool.
7. Realistic Political Systems and Struggles
No decent book is missing a good Political system. The Lunar Chronicles has history, political struggles and social problems that are super realistic and create a beautiful framework for this series. Cyborgs are less than human, Lunars are foreign and evil..plenty of social inequality here!
8. Iko, Her Never Ending Search for Her Human Body and Her Inappropriate Comments
Oh Iko, the fashion savvy, humanity lusting, gossip queen android who undergoes numerous physical changes over the books. Humourous, lovable, and my personal favourite.
9. Continuity
I hate reading novels that leave off on a cliff hanger and the following installment skips ahead to months later. Seriously?! Or, just as bad, the next novel is told from an entirely new perspective without returning to the original character’s struggles. The Lunar Chronicles continues with the action straight through and continues to deliver the same brand of awesome all the way to..the end, I hope!
10. Diverse Cast
We have tons of characters to select our favourites from who all have their own unique skills, beliefs and origins to capture the hearts of all kinds of readers. I mean, hats off to Meyer for making such a diverse cast!
So, that’s my top 10 reasons to love The Lunar Chronicles! I’m actually sad to see this series go, but I cannot wait to read the conclusion in Winter. I’m sure it will be just as amazing as the last three books of the series!
I ask you, readers, why do you love (or dislike) The Lunar Chronicles?
